Physiotherapy Services to Nursing and Care Homes
E-Physio Associates Limited can provide physiotherapy services to your
residents on a one-to-one basis or alternatively within a group
situation at your premises.
When we start to work within a nursing or care home on a contract
basis we find that individual assessments, advice and exercise are
given primarily to those residents identified by the staff to have
particular difficulties. These include mobility, pain or changes
in ability. Routinely monitored, over time physiotherapy treatment
could be minimised.
For residents treated by E-Physio Associates Limited, details of
their medical records may be required in order to make correct
assessments.
E-Physio Associates Limited utilises a bespoke in-house developed,
computerised patient management system. All patient records and
appointments are computerised and therefore we can provide a
personalised patient pack with relevant treatment and exercise
information, which can be integrated into the residents care plan.
Some nursing homes keep a log for physiotherapy requests to be
available for a physiotherapist’s routine visit. Care staff
become adept at knowing which resident(s) require physiotherapy
advice as their circumstances change.
Individual treatment sessions
Typically, on an individual basis our physiotherapist can carry out
an initial assessment of your resident’s treatment needs and prepare
an ongoing treatment programme having liaised with the individual,
staff and residents relatives where possible. Treatments can be at
regular intervals and frequently reviewed. Working closely with a
resident’s key worker/carer an optimum treatment / exercise regime
can be implemented.
Group treatment/advice sessions
Several residents could be seen within a treatment/advice session in
a one-to-one situation. Treatment/advice would be for less time
than on an individual appointment and therefore if the condition
is complex an individual treatment may be advisable.
(For further information please contact our physiotherapist team)
When several residents are seen within a group session, exercises
and resident physiotherapy care needs can be shown to care
assistants and/or activities co-ordinators. It is important that
your staff are happy with any new advice we give and inform us of
any differing views.
Group exercise sessions
If you have no activities co-ordinator we can run exercise groups.
Group work with residents promotes
- General fitness levels
- Joint mobility
- Increased cardio vascular activity
- Upper and lower limb dexterity
- Maintenance of muscle strength
- Balance awareness
- Facial movement (speech/swallowing)
- Better pulmonary function
- Self confidence
- Social interaction
Manual Handling Training
E-Physio Associates Limited can provide Manual Handling Training
courses for all staff.
Our physiotherapists are often asked to go into EMI units to advise
on manual handling or when a resident’s physical abilities are
altering through existing neurological or orthopaedic conditions.
